DAILY COURIER - Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, witnessed a transformative experience as Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, the convener of the Christ Compassion to the Rural World Foundation (CCRWF), brought the “Ibadan, This is Love Crusade 2024” to Liberty Stadium. The weeklong event, which combined spiritual rejuvenation with humanitarian outreach, drew thousands from across the region, leaving an indelible mark on the city.
The crusade, which ran from Monday to Friday, offered more than just spiritual blessings. It featured daily evangelistic meetings where lives were touched, bodies were healed, and countless souls embraced salvation. The evenings were charged with heartfelt worship and life-changing messages, but the outreach also addressed the physical and material needs of attendees. Relief materials, including foodstuff, clothing, and essential items, were distributed to thousands of beneficiaries, many of whom queued for over a kilometre outside the stadium to receive help.
Pastor Poju Oyemade, Senior Pastor of Covenant Christian Centre and one of the key speakers at the accompanying ministers’ conference, described the outreach as "phenomenal." Reflecting on his connection to Ibadan, where he was born and schooled, Pastor Oyemade shared his admiration for the massive impact of the crusade. “The stadium was packed with people, and the queue outside of people trying to get in was over a kilometre long. Inside were thousands of people receiving relief and hope,” he said.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State also attended the event and commended Pastor Ashimolowo and CCRWF for their efforts in uplifting lives. Addressing the audience, the governor remarked, “I thank Pastor Ashimolowo for bringing the crusade to Ibadan and putting smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries. In these hard times, let us remember the Bible passage that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
The initiative extended beyond the confines of Liberty Stadium, incorporating medical outreach and ministerial conferences designed to empower local clergy and church leaders. The outreach reflected Pastor Ashimolowo’s vision to not only spread the gospel but also to provide tangible support to underserved communities.
As the weeklong crusade drew to a close, it left behind a legacy of hope, healing, and empowerment. Pastor Ashimolowo’s commitment to combining spiritual revival with practical support has set a new benchmark for evangelistic missions in Nigeria.
The “Ibadan, This is Love Crusade 2024” will be remembered as a testament to the transformative power of faith and compassion, demonstrating that the gospel is not just words but action.
