DAILY COURIER — Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Suleiman Muhammed, the Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi East, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the party and the state at large.
In a condolence message released on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, the APC leadership across the state, and the people of Kogi East Senatorial District, particularly Dekina Local Government Area, where the late party chieftain hailed from.
Governor Ododo hailed the late Hon. Suleiman as a "man of peace and humility," whose contributions to party development and governance were deeply respected.
“The late Hon. Suleiman Muhammed was a man of peace, humility, and one who demonstrated commitment to the service of the state and the APC as a party. He carried the aspirations of his people with dignity; his leadership was widely respected and his contributions deeply valued within and beyond the APC in Kogi East,” the governor said.
He further highlighted the deceased’s instrumental role in promoting unity and dialogue within the party, emphasizing his stabilizing presence during party consultations and engagements in the zone.
“He was instrumental in strengthening party cohesion and promoting inclusive dialogue. His presence in every party engagement brought stability and thoughtful leadership to our consultations in the zone,” he added.
Governor Ododo praised Hon. Suleiman’s calm demeanor, fairness, and attentiveness, which he said made him a unifying figure and a source of wise counsel within the APC.
The governor prayed for the repose of his soul, asking Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljanatul Firdaus.
Hon. Suleiman Muhammed, who previously served as the APC Coordinator for Odu Ward 2 before rising to become the zonal chairman for Kogi East, died at the age of 45. He has since been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.
His passing has drawn tributes from across political divides, with many describing him as a bridge-builder and a dedicated servant of the people.
