DAILY COURIER - The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has congratulated Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of the 2025 Ramadan fast. In his Sallah goodwill message, he emphasized the need for sustained sacrifice, unity, and responsible celebrations to foster national development and road safety.
Highlighting the significance of Ramadan, Corps Marshal Mohammed described the fasting period as a time of spiritual rejuvenation, sacrifice, and community bonding. He urged Muslims to extend the virtues of love, self-discipline, and good neighborliness beyond the holy month to promote national cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
As the country prepares for Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the Corps Marshal called on motorists and road users to exercise patience and caution on the roads. He noted that increased vehicular movement during the festive period necessitates extra vigilance to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all travelers.
"I urge all Nigerians to join the campaign to make our roads free and safe, not only during the celebration but beyond it, by avoiding speeding, overloading, and wrong-way driving," Mohammed stated.
To facilitate smooth traffic flow and minimize road accidents, the FRSC has deployed personnel and resources across major highways, particularly at identified black spots. This proactive measure is part of the agency’s commitment to ensuring a safe and seamless travel experience for Nigerians during the festive season.
Commending FRSC personnel for their dedication, Mohammed acknowledged the sacrifices officers make in ensuring road safety despite challenges posed by reckless drivers. He assured them of Management’s continued commitment to improving their welfare through policies that enhance working conditions, capacity development, and career progression.
Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for providing the FRSC with necessary logistics and moral support to enhance service delivery. He reaffirmed the Corps’ determination to reciprocate this support by intensifying efforts to improve road safety and traffic management.
In his concluding remarks, the Corps Marshal prayed for Allah’s guidance and protection over Nigeria, emphasizing the need for citizens to uphold the values of Ramadan in their daily lives. He reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to leveraging technology for enhanced traffic management and safety administration across the country.
Given the expected surge in movement during Eid-el-Fitr, the FRSC urged road users to comply with traffic regulations and report emergencies via the National Emergency line 122 or the FRSC National Traffic Radio on 107.1 FM for prompt response.
Eid-el-Fitr marks the conclusion of Ramadan and is traditionally a period of heightened human and vehicular activity. The FRSC remains resolute in its mandate to ensure road safety for all Nigerians during this festive season and beyond.
