DAILY COURIER - The Association of Corporate Online Editors (ACOE) welcomed the newly elected leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, at its regular meeting in Abuja today. The unscheduled visit by the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, and Vice Chairman, Comrade Yahaya Ndambabo, marked a significant moment of solidarity and collaboration between the two bodies.
In her remarks, Comrade Grace Ike lauded ACOE for its commendable contributions to journalism and its unwavering support for the NUJ FCT Council. She expressed her gratitude for the congratulatory letter sent by ACOE after her election victory, describing it as a thoughtful and encouraging gesture.
"I want to appreciate the good work you are doing," Comrade Ike said. "I also want to acknowledge the congratulatory letter from your chairman, which we do not take for granted. We urge you to continue using your platform to promote the image of the NUJ FCT Council. As members of a body under the NUJ umbrella, we encourage balanced, fair, and objective reporting that aligns with journalistic ethics and fosters accurate reportage."
The NUJ Chairman underscored the importance of collaboration and partnership in advancing journalism’s cause. She stated, "We are always here for you and look forward to working with ACOE to achieve our shared goals in 2025 and beyond. Please continue to see the council as an integral part of your association."
In response, the ACOE Chairman, Mr. Martins Odiete, expressed gratitude to the NUJ leaders for their visit, describing it as a gesture of goodwill that underscores the unity within the journalism profession. He reassured the NUJ FCT Council of ACOE’s loyalty and dedication to advancing the profession.
“As you rightly mentioned, all our members are card-carrying members of the NUJ," Mr. Odiete said. "Rest assured, we are working tirelessly to uphold the interests of the NUJ. Our executive team will also pay a courtesy visit to your office to discuss further areas of mutual interest and collaboration.”
Mr. Odiete reiterated ACOE’s commitment to strengthening ties with the NUJ FCT Council and wished the council leadership success in its endeavours.
