DAILY COURIER – The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA), Engr. Aliyu Tukur Tahir, has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and the entire nation on the occasion of Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary. In his message, Engr. Tahir emphasized the need for Nigerians to reflect on the nation's journey and embrace values that will make the country a safer and better place for all.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 30, 2024, Engr. Tahir encouraged Nigerians to uphold the core values left behind by the country's forefathers—patience, sacrifice, faith in God, justice, fairness, and mutual support for one another. He stressed that despite the challenges Nigeria has faced, the country has remained united in its diversity, which is a testament to its strength and resilience.
"It has been 64 years since our nation gained independence. The grace that has sustained us as a nation proves God's love for us. The fact that we have survived and thrived as a diverse nation with multiple languages, cultures, and religions demonstrates our growth as a people," Engr. Tahir said.
While acknowledging the setbacks faced by the country, he noted that no nation, however powerful, is free from challenges. He called on Nigerians to work together in rebuilding the nation by adhering to the values of their forefathers and striving to make the country a better and safer place for future generations.
Engr. Tahir further urged Nigerians to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity, stressing that unity is essential in overcoming the nation's current challenges. "It is through collective effort and unity that we can surmount the obstacles before us," he added.
The NEMSA boss also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Honourable Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, for their unwavering support to the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency. He assured Nigerians of NEMSA's commitment to its mandate, which includes enforcing technical standards and regulations, conducting technical inspections, testing, and certification of electrical installations, meters, and instruments. These efforts, he said, are vital to ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable electricity supply across the country, while safeguarding lives and property within the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) and allied industries.
Engr. Tahir concluded by wishing all Nigerians a joyful and meaningful Independence Day celebration, reiterating the importance of unity and shared responsibility in the nation's continued growth and success.
