Troops of the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, operating under Operation SAFE HAVEN, have successfully arrested two notorious kidnappers in Plateau State. The operation, carried out on March 15, 2025, targeted a known criminal hideout in Katume High Grounds, Bassa Local Government Area, leading to the capture of the suspects, Bashir Mohammed and Ismail Mohammad.
According to military sources, the operation was conducted as part of Operation LAFIYAN JAMA'A, following credible intelligence that the location was frequently used by kidnappers to hold their victims while negotiating ransoms. During the raid, troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and one AK-47 magazine from the arrested suspects.
Both kidnappers are currently in custody and have begun making valuable confessions that will assist security forces in tracking down other members of their gang and recovering more weapons. The successful operation is seen as a major boost to Operation SAFE HAVEN’s ongoing efforts to curb insecurity and dismantle criminal networks in Plateau and surrounding states.
