DAILY COURIER March 1, 2025 – Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged Muslims across the state to embrace the virtues of patience, sacrifice, and compassion as they begin this year’s Ramadan fast.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo described Ramadan as a sacred period of reflection, devotion, and self-discipline. He emphasized that the holy month serves as a reminder of the virtues that strengthen faith and foster a spirit of generosity towards those in need.
“Ramadan is a sacred time of reflection, devotion, and self-discipline. It reminds us of the virtues of patience, sacrifice, and generosity; values that strengthen our faith and foster a spirit of compassion for those in need,” the Governor stated.
Governor Ododo encouraged the people of Kogi State to uphold love, peace, mutual respect, and understanding, regardless of religious differences. He stressed that these values are crucial for the state's development and unity.
“During this Holy Month, I encourage all citizens of Kogi State, regardless of faith, to embrace the spirit of love, peace, and mutual respect that Ramadan represents. Let us use this opportunity to strengthen our bonds as a people and work together for the continued progress and unity of our dear state,” he added.
The Governor further called on citizens to show compassion to the less privileged, promote justice, and foster harmony within their communities. He urged Muslims to dedicate the Ramadan period to fervent prayers for the peace, security, and development of both Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an inclusive and peaceful society where people of all backgrounds can coexist and thrive.
As Muslims embark on the month-long fasting, he wished them a spiritually fulfilling Ramadan and prayed for Allah’s blessings on the state and the nation.
