DAILY COURIER – Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on the people of the state to embrace peaceful coexistence, unity, and tolerance as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.
The Governor made this appeal after participating in the Eid prayer at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Center in Lokoja, which marked the conclusion of the Ramadan fast.
In his message to the people, Governor Ododo stressed the significance of fostering unity and understanding among the diverse communities in the state. He urged citizens to set aside their differences and collaborate in building a more prosperous and harmonious Kogi State.
The Governor reassured the people of his administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and supporting initiatives that promote social cohesion and development. He acknowledged the contributions of religious leaders, traditional rulers, and local communities in maintaining peace and driving progress in the state.
Meanwhile, Governor Ododo commended the role of traditional rulers in upholding peace and stability since he assumed office. He specifically praised the Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir (Maikarfi IV), who led members of the community on a traditional homage to the Governor at the Government House.
Expressing his gratitude for the Maigari’s prayers and support, Governor Ododo pledged to maintain a strong partnership between his administration and the traditional institution, aligning with his commitment to bringing governance closer to the people.
In response, the Maigari of Lokoja lauded the Governor’s efforts in fostering unity among the people of Kogi State. He offered prayers for the Governor’s success and urged residents to continue upholding peace and abiding by the law.
Additionally, Governor Ododo hosted heads of security agencies, senior government officials, and residents of Lokoja at the Government House for the traditional Sallah homage, further reinforcing his administration’s dedication to community engagement and peacebuilding.
