DAILY COURIER - As Ogun State marks its 49th anniversary since its creation on February 3, 1976, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has paid glowing tribute to the founding fathers and heroes past whose vision, sacrifices, and leadership laid the foundation for the state’s greatness.
In a message to commemorate the milestone, the Governor described Ogun State as a beacon of industrial, educational, and infrastructural excellence, attributing its remarkable progress to the dedication and resilience of its people.
Governor Abiodun emphasized the foresight of Ogun’s founding fathers, who worked tirelessly to shape a state that has today become a leader in various sectors. He acknowledged their sacrifices in positioning Ogun as a key economic powerhouse and a hub for development in Nigeria.
"Our founding fathers envisioned a state that would stand as a model of progress and development, and today, we celebrate how far we have come. Their sacrifices and dreams laid the groundwork for the economic strength, world-class education, healthcare, and infrastructural advancements that define Ogun State today," he said.
Over the years, Ogun State has experienced remarkable transformation, emerging as an industrial hub with a thriving economy. Governor Abiodun highlighted the state's progress in road construction, healthcare services, education, agriculture, and youth empowerment, stressing that these achievements reflect the unity and determination of the people.
"Our dear state has continued to grow in leaps and bounds, becoming home to major industries, top-tier educational institutions, and expansive infrastructural projects. The resilience of our people has been key to this success, and I commend every Ogun citizen for their contribution to our shared prosperity," he added.
Looking to the future, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable development, economic diversification, and infrastructure expansion to further elevate Ogun’s status as a leading state in Nigeria.
"As we celebrate this milestone, I assure the people of Ogun that our government remains dedicated to empowering youths, fostering innovation, and improving the quality of life for all. Together, we will build an even greater Ogun State," he stated.
As Ogun State turns 49, Governor Abiodun urged citizens to reflect on the state’s journey and renew their commitment to its continued growth and prosperity.
