Daily Courier - Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr have reportedly entered official negotiations to sign Nigerian international Victor Boniface as they seek to strengthen their attacking line-up following the departure of Talisca to Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The development was disclosed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who revealed that Al Nassr is actively pursuing the Bayer Leverkusen forward.
“Understand Al Nassr have started official talks for Victor Boniface as [their] new striker,” Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter). “Negotiations [are ongoing] with Bayer Leverkusen for the Nigerian striker to replace Talisca. The other candidate is Jhon Durán… but Aston Villa still insist on keeping him at the club.”
Boniface, 23, recently signed a long-term deal with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, committing his future to the club until 2029. The deal positions him as one of the top earners at the German outfit, reflecting his impressive performances since joining from Union Saint-Gilloise.
Leverkusen, who view Boniface as a key player in their squad, are reportedly demanding a minimum of €50 million to part ways with the talented striker. This valuation underscores the Nigerian’s rising profile in European football.
Al Nassr, home to global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané, is looking to maintain its competitive edge in the Saudi Pro League by reinforcing its attack. Boniface is seen as a potential centerpiece for the club’s ambitions.
The move aligns with Saudi Arabia’s ongoing push to attract top talent to its domestic league, as the nation aims to establish itself as a powerhouse in world football.
Despite Al Nassr’s interest, convincing Bayer Leverkusen to release Boniface could prove challenging given his contract extension and pivotal role in the team. Additionally, Aston Villa’s reluctance to release Jhon Durán could make Boniface the primary target for the Saudi club.
The Super Eagles forward has been in scintillating form, cementing his reputation as one of the most promising strikers in Europe. His performances have attracted interest from top clubs, further highlighting his growing value on the global stage.
If the deal materializes, Boniface will join a growing list of Nigerian players making headlines in international football, adding another chapter to his impressive career trajectory.
