Daily Courier - Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, in a chilling midnight raid, stormed the Chikakore area of Kubwa in Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), abducting a family of four and another victim.
The attack occurred around 12 a.m. on Monday, leaving residents in shock and fear. Witnesses reported that approximately 30 heavily armed men, wielding AK-47 rifles, descended on the area, specifically targeting the residence of Mr. Adefija Michael Akinropo.
The assailants abducted Mr. Akinropo, his wife, their son, and his elder brother. In a second incident nearby, the attackers entered a building housing a poultry farm, where they kidnapped another man and inflicted injuries on his wife during the raid.
Residents described the gunmen as coordinated and well-armed, overwhelming the area with gunfire as they carried out the abductions. One resident, who requested anonymity, said, “It was terrifying. The gunshots were nonstop, and they seemed to know exactly where they were going.”
The community is now gripped with fear, as this incident adds to the growing insecurity in parts of the FCT. Locals have called on security agencies to intensify their efforts to curb the rising wave of kidnappings in the region.
When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, confirmed awareness of the incident but stated that details were still being verified.
“Let me check with the DPO, and I will get back to you,” she said, promising updates as investigations continue.
This latest abduction highlights the escalating security challenges in the FCT, particularly in suburban areas like Kubwa and Bwari. Residents in these areas have repeatedly raised concerns over the lack of adequate security presence, which they say leaves them vulnerable to criminal activities.
Efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims are expected to involve a coordinated response by security operatives, as families and loved ones anxiously await news of their safe return.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
