DAILY COURIER - Senior citizens in Ateba, a community in Agassa, Kogi State, received a boost to their well-being as the First Lady of Kogi State, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, extended relief through her Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, Mrs. Aliu Nana Ohunene. The outreach, which provided monetary gifts and essential items, aimed to uplift the most vulnerable members of society.
During the empowerment programme, Mrs. Aliu Nana Ohunene emphasized the First Lady's commitment to supporting underserved communities. She expressed gratitude to God and acknowledged Hajia Ododo's influence in enabling her to make a meaningful impact.
“I thank Almighty Allah for this opportunity and Her Excellency, Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, who has been a pillar to all of us in rendering assistance to the needy. If you are with Her Excellency, you must extend hands of fellowship, and this has been part of me,” she stated.
Mrs. Aliu assured residents that similar initiatives would be extended to other communities across the central senatorial district, reiterating the administration’s dedication to alleviating hardships. She also called on citizens to continue supporting Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration, highlighting its focus on grassroots development.
Beneficiaries of the programme expressed gratitude for the assistance, describing it as a timely intervention to address their challenges. Several senior citizens lauded Mrs. Aliu's compassion and dedication, noting that the initiative had brought much-needed relief to their lives.
“This support will go a long way in easing our burdens. We deeply appreciate Mrs. Aliu Nana Ohunene and the First Lady for remembering us,” said one of the beneficiaries.
The empowerment initiative is part of a broader effort by the First Lady to improve the living standards of the elderly, foster community development, and promote social inclusion in Kogi State.
