DAILY COURIER - Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has been hailed as a proactive and visionary leader committed to governance and development. This was stated by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Ismaila Isah, during his appearance on KAFTAN TV’s live programme, The Polity, on Tuesday.
Isah emphasized that Governor Ododo assumed office well-prepared, having gained valuable experience while serving in the previous administration. “He came into governance as the most prepared Governor in the state’s history, equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to make a difference,” Isah said.
According to the media adviser, Governor Ododo has prioritized uniting the state, delivering on his campaign promises, and addressing tensions that arose during the last election. Contrary to claims that he operates under the shadow of his predecessor, Isah asserted that Ododo is forging his own path.
“While this administration values continuity, Governor Ododo’s policies and programmes reflect his independent vision,” he said.
Isah highlighted several areas where the Ododo-led administration is charting new courses, particularly in agriculture, tourism, and the extractive industry.
Agriculture and Food Security: New policies aim to ensure sustainability and food sufficiency in the state.
Tourism Development: The government has focused on unlocking the untapped tourism potential of Kogi State. Initiatives include hosting the Kogi International Carnival and modernizing community cultural festivals to attract local and international tourists. “Our cultural heritage is getting the attention it deserves, and we are positioning the state as a tourism hub,” Isah said.
Mineral Resources and Local Development: Kogi, endowed with 32 commercially viable mineral deposits across its local government areas, is shifting focus from mining solely for export to local production. “We want investors to set up processing plants here, creating jobs and opportunities for our people,” he noted.
Governor Ododo’s recent meeting with the Chinese Consular General underscored this commitment, as discussions centered on solid mineral investments and local economic development.
Looking ahead to the celebration of Governor Ododo’s first year in office, Isah revealed that the event will focus on gathering feedback from citizens and identifying areas for improvement. “It’s about listening to the people and building on what we’ve achieved so far,” he said.
As Governor Ododo continues to implement his vision, his administration’s emphasis on innovation, unity, and development signals a transformative era for Kogi State. From agriculture to mining and tourism, the governor’s proactive approach is positioning the state for sustained growth and prosperity.
