DAILY COURIER – The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has approved the promotion of 49 senior officers within the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The promotion includes the elevation of 21 Corps Commanders (CC) to Assistant Corps Marshals (ACM), 11 Deputy Corps Commanders (DCC) to Corps Commanders (CC), and 17 Assistant Corps Commanders (ACC) to Deputy Corps Commanders (DCC).
A statement signed by Charles Edem, Deputy Corps Public Education Officer dated September 20, reads: "The announcement, made on Wednesday, represents a significant advancement within the FRSC's leadership structure and highlights the agency's ongoing commitment to promoting excellence and rewarding diligence.
Among the newly promoted Assistant Corps Marshals are key officers holding critical roles within the Corps. These include the Corps Secretary, ACM LD Shehu, fsi; Corps Legal Adviser, ACM KD Gonji, mni; Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, mni; and Corps Intelligence Officer, ACM G Ntukidem, fsi. Other notable promotions include ACM AT Hassan, fdc, Corps Provost; ACM MR Sabiya, Corps Budget Officer; and ACM KA Ibrahim, Corps Transport Standardisation Officer.
Further promotions in the ACM rank include sector commanders and officers from across the country. Among them are ACM CM Onukwubiri, Sector Commander Bayelsa; ACM TA Mohammed; ACM SU Galadanchi, in charge of Command Administration and Strategy; ACM YA Haruna, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS3HQ Yola; and ACM A Umar, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS1HQ Kaduna. The full list features officers from various sectors, departments, and operational areas within the FRSC.
Three Assistant Corps Marshals, ACM DI Okuobeya, ACM AS Ochi, and ACM Adekanye, fsi, have been directed to proceed on immediate retirement following their promotion.
Further Promotions in Corps Commander and Deputy Corps Commander Ranks
In addition to the promotion of 21 officers to ACM, 11 Corps Commanders were promoted to the rank of Corps Commander (CC), including the Corps Information Technology Officer/Technical Adviser to the Corps Marshal, Corps Commander Wasiu Adenekan MNSE.
Among the 17 Assistant Corps Commanders elevated to Deputy Corps Commanders are DCC EE Uzoma and 16 others, reflecting a broader enhancement of senior leadership within the agency.

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, the SGF, Senator George Akume, expressed satisfaction with the transparency and objectivity of the promotion process. He urged the newly appointed officers to redouble their commitment to the FRSC’s vision of eradicating road traffic crashes and creating a safer motoring environment for Nigerians.
“The appointment is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s commitment to rewarding excellence, diligence, and hard work,” Senator Akume stated, adding that it aligns with the leadership philosophy of the current administration.
FRSC Corps Marshal’s Charge to Newly Promoted Officers
In a separate statement, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, congratulated the promoted officers, emphasizing that their new ranks come with greater responsibilities. He urged the officers to continue demonstrating dedication, commitment, and passion in their service to the Corps. “Every promotion is a call to greater duty,” Mohammed noted, as he charged the officers to be more focused and devoted to their work.
He also encouraged officers who were not promoted during this exercise to remain steadfast and loyal to the system, promising that opportunities would arise in the future. Additionally, the Corps Marshal reiterated the agency’s commitment to improving the welfare of its personnel, urging all officers to continue working towards the realization of the FRSC’s corporate mandate.
