DAILY COURIER - Luton Town has completed the signing of former Chelsea winger Victor Moses on a free transfer, subject to international clearance. The 33-year-old Nigerian international joins the newly-promoted Premier League side after his contract with Russian club Spartak Moscow expired, marking a return to English football.
Moses, who enjoyed a successful spell at Chelsea under various managers, including winning the Premier League in 2017 under Antonio Conte, brings a wealth of experience to Luton. He played a key role in Chelsea's title-winning season, often deployed as a wing-back in Conte’s 3-4-3 formation. Over the course of his career, Moses has also played for several other top clubs, including Liverpool, West Ham, Inter Milan, and Fenerbahce.
Since 2021, Moses has been plying his trade in Russia with Spartak Moscow, where he became a regular starter, contributing to the club's domestic campaigns in the Russian Premier League. However, due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, many players have opted to leave the country, and Moses is among the latest to make the switch to another league.
Luton Town, who are looking to bolster their squad following their promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 1992, view Moses as an experienced addition to their ranks. His versatility, with the ability to play both as a winger and a wing-back, is expected to provide depth to Rob Edwards' side.
Moses' move is still subject to international clearance, but Luton Town officials are confident the deal will go through smoothly. Once finalized, he will link up with his new teammates and prepare to make an impact in England’s top flight.
Speaking on his move, Moses said, “I’m excited to be back in the Premier League and ready for this new challenge with Luton. The club has shown great ambition, and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team’s success this season.”
Luton fans will be eagerly awaiting his debut as the club continues its campaign in the Premier League.
