DAILY COURIER – President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerian youths that the ongoing economic reforms under his administration are designed to reverse the trend of professionals leaving the country and secure a prosperous future for the younger generation.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 44-member Planning Committee for the National Youth Conference at the State House on Monday, the President emphasized that improving the economy, empowering citizens, and fostering a sense of ownership would encourage Nigerians to stay and contribute to national development.
President Tinubu described Nigerian youths as the "hope of the country," stating that every decision taken by his administration, including the removal of the fuel subsidy, was aimed at protecting their future. He urged the committee to take their responsibility seriously, assuring them that the government would implement the outcomes of their deliberations.
The President highlighted the progress made in stabilizing the economy, noting a steady decline in food prices, a stabilized exchange rate, and growing investor confidence. He also pointed to advancements in technology and infrastructure, such as the renovation of the Third Mainland Bridge and the clearance of passport backlogs, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to youth development.
Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande thanked the President for prioritizing youth inclusion, revealing that over 260,000 students have already benefited from the administration’s student loan scheme. Committee member Samson Itodo outlined key areas of focus for the conference, including political governance, economic transformation, skills development, climate change, and social cohesion.
President Tinubu concluded by urging the committee to be frank in their recommendations, promising to implement actionable ideas that would drive the country’s prosperity.
