DAILY COURIER - Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has been honored with the Governor of the Year 2024 award in Agriculture by Independent Newspapers Limited, publishers of Daily Independent Newspaper. The award recognizes his administration’s significant strides in agricultural development and food security.
The award was presented during a ceremony in Abuja and was received on behalf of the governor by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo. This latest recognition marks Governor Ododo’s third major award from media organizations this year, highlighting his commitment to sustainable agriculture, food security, and the inclusion of women and youth in governance.
The management of Daily Independent Newspapers acknowledged Governor Ododo’s policies aimed at empowering farmers through mechanized farming, enhancing the agricultural value chain, and encouraging youth and women’s participation in agriculture. His administration’s interventions in agriculture have not only boosted food production in Kogi State but have also positioned the state as a key contributor to Nigeria’s agricultural revolution under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Governor Ododo’s efforts align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reinforcing Kogi’s role in strengthening national food security. His administration’s focus on mechanization, modern farming techniques, and farmer support initiatives has significantly improved productivity and livelihoods in the state.
This award adds to a growing list of recognitions for Governor Ododo. Earlier this year, he received The Political Personality of the Year Award from The Sun Newspaper and Governor of the Year from Daily Asset Newspaper. He was also honored as the Youth-Friendly Governor of the Year by the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS) for his contributions to youth empowerment.
Governor Ododo has consistently emphasized that agriculture remains a critical sector for Kogi State’s economic growth, employment generation, and overall development. His administration continues to implement policies that encourage innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth in the agricultural sector.
The Governor of the Year in Agriculture award serves as another testament to his dedication to transforming Kogi State into a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria.
