DAILY COURIER - Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to urban renewal and modern city development, highlighting ongoing housing and infrastructure projects aimed at transforming major towns into smart cities.
In a statement on his official Facebook page, Governor Abiodun outlined how strategic investments in housing and urban infrastructure are positioning Ogun State as a prime destination for residence and investment. He noted that his administration has successfully developed high-quality estates in key locations, including Kobape, Iperu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ilaro, attracting investors and new residents to the state.
Among the notable projects is the Ibara GRA housing scheme, where the first phase of 35 houses has been completed with world-class infrastructure. Similarly, the once-abandoned President Muhammadu Buhari Estate in Kobape has been redesigned into a 116-unit modern estate, which the governor described as being in high demand due to its upgraded facilities and strategic location.
Expanding on his government’s plans, Abiodun revealed that similar housing projects are set to be replicated in Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, and Ota, ensuring that more parts of the state benefit from modern residential infrastructure. He encouraged prospective homebuyers to take advantage of the affordable prices before inflation drives up costs, emphasizing his administration’s focus on housing accessibility and affordability.
Beyond housing, the governor highlighted the wider urban renewal strategy, which includes improved road networks, modern amenities, and sustainable infrastructure. These efforts, he said, are designed to reinforce Ogun State’s position as a model for smart city development in Nigeria.
Governor Abiodun’s urban renewal drive aligns with his administration’s broader vision of fostering economic growth, improving the standard of living, and attracting local and foreign investors to Ogun State.
