The governor made this declaration on Monday, March 17, 2025, during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.
Governor Kefas, who was accompanied by federal and state lawmakers from Taraba, commended the Nigerian Army’s efforts, particularly the 6 Brigade in Jalingo, for their dedication to safeguarding lives and property in the state. He assured the COAS of his government’s continued support to ensure troops have the necessary resources to carry out their duties effectively.
"The security of our people remains paramount, and we deeply appreciate the sacrifices of the Nigerian Army in ensuring peace in Taraba. My administration will continue to support the military in every way possible to maintain stability and foster development in the state," Governor Kefas stated.
In response, General Oluyede applauded the governor and the people of Taraba for their unwavering support for the Nigerian Army. He reiterated the military’s commitment to securing the state and the country at large, emphasizing that the Army remains resolute in its fight against insurgency, terrorism, and other security threats.
"We recognize the importance of security in fostering development, and I assure you that we are resolute in our mission to stamp out crime and maintain peace, not only in Taraba State but across the nation," the COAS said.
The visit underscores a shared determination between the state government and the military to enhance security and create an enabling environment for economic growth.
