DAILY COURIER - The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has officially inaugurated its new executive members across the six area councils of Abuja. The move, aimed at strengthening the party’s structure ahead of the upcoming area council elections, was marked by a series of ceremonies attended by party supporters and stakeholders.
The Chairman of FCT APC, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, led the inauguration process, reaffirming the party’s commitment to ensuring electoral victory in all area councils. Addressing supporters during the event in Bwari Area Council, Usman acknowledged past internal crises that had cast doubts on the authenticity of the party’s executives. He assured party faithful that the legitimate leadership had now been established.
"God has made it possible that the authentic executives of this party have been made known," he stated. Usman further emphasized that the national leadership of the party had endorsed the newly inaugurated state executive council, underscoring their legitimacy. "We are here at Bwari to fulfill the national chairman’s directive for the 62 wards and six area councils," he added, calling on the electorate to support the new executives.
Hajiya Salamatu Jibrin, the FCT APC state women’s leader, also addressed the gathering, encouraging women to take an active role in the party’s affairs. "The days of your vote being disregarded are over. We are going to mobilize, and by the special grace of God, we will ensure women have a stake in leadership roles," she declared, drawing applause from the crowd.
Mr. Solomon Ayuba, a prominent stakeholder in the party, described the event as a turning point for the APC in the FCT. Reflecting on past challenges, he expressed optimism that the newly inaugurated executives would lead the party to greater success. "We find ourselves in this situation today, inaugurating new executives who will take the party forward," he said. Ayuba expressed confidence in the capacity of the new leadership to provide better service and steer the party toward victory in the forthcoming elections.
Another key figure within the APC, Alhaji Yahaya Isah, stressed the importance of party unity, particularly in reclaiming lost ground in Bwari Area Council. He urged the new executives to remain dedicated to the party’s values and ensure they operate effectively. "If it is APC, let it be APC," he stated, calling for loyalty and discipline among party members.
Bwari Ward Chairman, Ali Shere, delivered a welcome speech, expressing gratitude to stakeholders, aspirants, and supporters for their unwavering dedication to the party. He highlighted the need for a fully functional party office and expressed enthusiasm for the party’s future under the newly installed leadership.
As the APC prepares for the area council elections, the newly inaugurated executives, bolstered by community support and party endorsement, are expected to lead a formidable campaign aimed at consolidating the party’s influence in the FCT.
