DAILY COURIER – In a historic ceremony at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa took the oath of office for his first full term as the seventh democratically elected governor of Ondo State, marking a pivotal transition in the state’s governance.
Addressing a jubilant crowd, Aiyedatiwa declared that his administration would shift from the 'Redeemed Agenda' of the past four years to a new development framework tagged 'OUR EASE'—an acronym encapsulating the administration’s seven-point agenda aimed at economic revitalization and social transformation.
“In the next four years, we will work with interested investors and development partners to ensure that Port Ondo becomes a reality and facilitate the exploration of our vast bitumen deposits,” the governor stated. He emphasised that these initiatives would generate significant revenue and employment for the state.
Aiyedatiwa outlined the core components of the 'OUR EASE' agenda, which include: Order, Security, and the Rule of Law; Urban and Rural Development through Agriculture and the Blue Economy; Revolutionary Technological Advancement and Industrialisation; Efficient Healthcare and Socio-economic Welfare; Adequate Power and Affordable Energy; Sustainable Infrastructure and Tourism; and Education, Human Capital Development, and Entrepreneurship.
The governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to security, assuring residents that his government would enhance intelligence gathering, strengthen security agencies, and reinforce community policing. He also pledged increased investment in health, education, and infrastructure to uplift the state’s living standards.
Aiyedatiwa paid glowing tribute to his late predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, describing him as a courageous leader whose vision for Ondo State would be carried forward. He acknowledged the sacrifices of the state’s founding fathers and reaffirmed his dedication to good governance.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their support, particularly in the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, which is expected to boost economic growth in Ondo’s coastal communities.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the people of Ondo State to support his administration’s vision, reiterating that the task ahead requires collective commitment. “We have no illusions about the enormity of this task, but with your support, we will navigate this journey successfully and build a prosperous future for our dear Sunshine State.”
The event was attended by dignitaries from across the country, including members of the National Assembly, traditional rulers, political leaders, and representatives of various sectors, all of whom expressed optimism about the new administration’s direction.
