DAILY COURIER – The Ogun State Government has approved the recruitment of 1,000 additional Amotekun Corps personnel, bringing the total strength of the security outfit to over 2,000, Governor Dapo Abiodun announced via his official Facebook page. The move is part of the state’s commitment to enhancing security and combating crime across all local communities.
Speaking during the passing-out parade of 690 Batch D trainees, Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of grassroots security and reiterated his administration’s dedication to making Ogun State safe for residents and visitors alike.
“We have approved the recruitment of 1,000 additional Amotekun Corps personnel, bringing the total to over 2,000, as part of our commitment to securing every corner of Ogun State,” the governor stated.
In addition to the recruitment, the government is equipping the Corps with new patrol vehicles, electric motorcycles, and advanced communication gadgets to improve their operational efficiency. These resources aim to bolster their ability to respond swiftly to security challenges and work in harmony with federal security agencies.
Governor Abiodun noted that the initiative not only strengthens grassroots security but also serves as a means to tackle unemployment. He commended the newly trained Batch D personnel for their discipline and urged them to prioritize intelligence gathering, community collaboration, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
“The dedication and discipline displayed by the Amotekun Corps are commendable. I urge them to remain professional and work closely with communities to enhance security across the state,” he said.
The governor called on residents of Ogun State to support the Amotekun Corps by providing timely and useful information. He emphasized that community collaboration is key to ensuring the success of security measures.
“As we strengthen our security apparatus, we appeal to our residents to cooperate with the Corps by sharing information that can help in tackling crime and ensuring the safety of all,” Governor Abiodun said.
