DAILY COURIER - Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has celebrated Kayode Adewale, a mathematics teacher at Imagbon/Imaka Comprehensive High School, for earning a place among the Top 50 teachers globally in the prestigious Global Teacher Prize. The award, organized by the Varkey Foundation in partnership with UNESCO, recognizes educators who have made exceptional contributions to transforming lives and communities through education.
Governor Abiodun, in a statement shared on his official Facebook page, described Adewale as a “visionary educator” whose achievements bring immense pride to Ogun State, often referred to as the "education capital of Nigeria."
Adewale, a proud alumnus of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Nigeria's first teacher-training university and one of the top 10 globally, has been celebrated for his innovative teaching methods and unwavering dedication to transforming education in his local community.
In recognition of Adewale's global achievement, Governor Abiodun announced his appointment as the Ogun State Education Ambassador. To honor his contributions, the state government will provide him with a bungalow in any part of the state of his choice and a cash prize of ₦5 million.
“This is not just a personal victory for Kayode Adewale but a moment of immense pride for our state and our education sector,” Governor Abiodun remarked. “His innovative approach to teaching mathematics, his humility, and his selfless service to the community exemplify what it means to be a true educator. We are immensely proud of him.”
Adewale's journey to global recognition has been marked by consistent excellence and dedication. In 2020, he was awarded the Best Teacher Award in Ogun State. His commitment to improving educational outcomes and uplifting his community through his work has now earned him international acclaim.
The governor emphasized that Adewale's recognition is a testament to Ogun State's commitment to fostering excellence in education. He noted that the state’s reputation as a hub for educational innovation has been reinforced by Adewale’s achievement.

The Global Teacher Prize is a $1 million initiative designed to highlight the contributions of outstanding educators globally. Adewale's recognition places him in a distinguished group of educators transforming lives and communities through innovative teaching practices.
