DAILY COURIER - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent announcement of board appointments for 42 federal agencies has sparked confusion following an apparent error in the list of appointees. Two individuals, Hon. Durosimi Meseko and Hon. Yahuza Ado Inuwa, were both named as chairmen of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI).
According to the press statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Hon. Meseko (from Kogi State) was listed as the chairman of NBRRI at number 21, while Hon. Inuwa (from Nasarawa State) was also designated chairman of the same agency at number 41.
The duplication has raised questions about the accuracy of the appointments and the review process behind the list. Observers have called for clarification to avoid potential administrative conflicts between the appointees.
President Tinubu emphasized in the statement that the roles of board chairpersons are non-executive, urging them not to interfere with the day-to-day management of the agencies. However, the double appointment at NBRRI risks complicating governance at the organization if not swiftly addressed.
The appointments, which also included managing directors, directors-general, and a board secretary, took immediate effect. This error has fueled public discourse, with critics urging the presidency to review the list thoroughly and issue corrections where necessary to maintain transparency and accountability.
As of the time of publication, no official clarification has been issued regarding the conflicting appointments.
