DAILY COURIER – On Monday, suspected political thugs invaded the Edo State High Court premises in Benin, attempting to disrupt the pre-hearing session on the disputed September 21 governorship election results.
The election, which saw Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is being challenged by seven opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Supporters of the opposing parties were present at the court on Monday, when unidentified individuals outside the courtroom suddenly attacked them.
However, security operatives swiftly blocked the court entrance and set up a roadblock along the route leading to the court.
