DAILY COURIER — Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his resounding victory in the November 16, 2024 Ondo State Governorship election.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo described Aiyedatiwa's victory as a testament to the hard work, dedication, and strategic planning of the APC leadership and members. The governor, who played a key role as Deputy Chairman of the Election Management and Strategy Committee in the Ondo State Governorship Campaign Council, expressed pride in the outcome and commended the people of Ondo State for their support.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 366,781 votes to defeat his closest rival, Hon. Agboola Ajayi of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes. Aiyedatiwa’s victory secures the APC’s continued leadership in Ondo State.
Governor Ododo, who coordinated election operations in Ondo North Senatorial District, expressed confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s ability to build on the achievements of the APC in the state.
“We have known Governor Aiyedatiwa. He has been tested and can be trusted to continue the good work of the APC administration in Ondo State,” Ododo stated.
He praised Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to infrastructure development, social welfare, and the security of lives and property, emphasizing that the new mandate is a testament to the APC’s popularity and acceptance in Ondo State.
Governor Ododo commended the people of Ondo State, including non-indigenous communities, for their peaceful conduct before, during, and after the election. He assured them that their support has been duly recognized and will be rewarded by the government.
He called on residents to rally behind Governor Aiyedatiwa as he begins his full term in February 2025, stating, “The support of the people is critical for the success of any government. I urge all Ondo residents to support Governor Aiyedatiwa in his efforts to take the state to greater heights.”
Ododo lauded the APC’s leadership for its strategic approach, which ensured victory in a keenly contested election. He expressed optimism that Aiyedatiwa’s administration will uphold and advance the development trajectory established by the APC in Ondo State.
With this victory, the APC has solidified its presence in the state, reinforcing its position as the party of choice for Ondo residents.
