DAILY COURIER - Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Alhassan Yahaya on his election as the new President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). Yahaya emerged victorious at the union’s triennial delegates’ conference held in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo described Yahaya as a dedicated media professional who has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the welfare of Nigerian journalists. The governor highlighted Yahaya’s exemplary leadership during his tenure as Deputy National President of the NUJ and commended his inclusive consultation and campaign approach, which ultimately secured his position as NUJ President.
Governor Ododo urged Yahaya to maintain a people-centered leadership approach by prioritizing inclusivity and the welfare of union members throughout his tenure. He also lauded the delegates for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the election process, emphasizing that it reflected the professionalism and unity within the NUJ.
Additionally, the governor congratulated Alhaji Momoh Jimoh Adeiza, General Manager of Radio Nigeria Prime FM Lokoja, on his election as Vice President of NUJ Zone D. This zone encompasses Kogi, Benue, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Governor Ododo praised Adeiza as an accomplished journalist whose contributions have brought honor and recognition to Kogi State.
The governor extended his best wishes to the new NUJ President, Vice President, and the entire national executive committee, expressing hope for a successful and impactful tenure that will further elevate the union’s role in promoting journalism in Nigeria.
