DAILY COURIER - The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has successfully completed an intensive training program aimed at enhancing the policy formulation, planning, and implementation skills of its top management staff and 12 Zonal Commanding Officers.
According to a statement today by the Corp's spokesperson, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the program, which concluded earlier this week, was designed to provide the officers with the critical knowledge necessary to strengthen the Corps' efforts in minimizing road traffic crashes and improving overall road safety in Nigeria.
The training session, which spanned several days, placed a strong emphasis on the development and execution of effective policies, strategic planning, and management. Topics covered included policy analysis, leadership skills, team building, and the use of evaluation techniques to ensure the successful implementation of initiatives. In particular, the workshop focused on strengthening the Corps' ability to plan and manage road safety programs aimed at reducing fatalities and injuries on Nigerian roads.

In his opening address on Tuesday, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed highlighted the importance of staff capacity development in achieving the FRSC’s safety mandate. He underscored that the training was in line with his administration's commitment to excellence in policy formulation and the Corps’ ongoing efforts to enhance its strategic operations.
"The training underscores our dedication to developing a highly skilled workforce capable of driving the Corps' vision of reducing road traffic injuries and fatalities. A strong focus on leadership, policy development, and implementation is critical for ensuring the long-term success of our mission," said Corps Marshal Mohammed.
The training was conducted by experts from respected institutions and policy analysts, coordinated by Alnas Consulting Ltd., who facilitated the sessions to ensure that the participating officers gained relevant and actionable insights into modern policy management practices.
This initiative is part of a broader capacity-building agenda introduced by the Corps Marshal since his appointment. His administration has made professional development a priority, aiming to equip the leadership of the FRSC with the tools needed to address the country’s pressing road safety challenges. This recent workshop is one in a series of capacity-building programs that have been held over the past few months.
