DAILY COURIER - President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, will be in the stands to support the Black Satellite as they confront the Flying Eagles in tonight’s WAFU B U-20 Championship final at the Stade Kegue, Lomen, Togo.
Okraku arrived in Lome on Tuesday and was received at the Togo border by the Executive Director of WAFU B, Mr. Philippe Tchere.
Although both teams have already qualified for next year’s U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, the match-up between two of West Africa’s football giants carries high stakes, with a regional title and bragging rights on the line.
Recall that Nigeria came from a goal down to beat Niger Republic 3-1 while Ghana beat Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 in the semi-final to book a final ticket against Nigeria.
The WAFU B U20 Championship also doubles as a qualification pathway for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, with Ghana and Nigeria securing the two available spots.
The 2025 U20 AFCON will, in turn, serve as the African qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile, where the top four teams will automatically earn their place.
