DAILY COURIER – President Bola Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Luong Cuong on his recent election as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. In a statement released by the State House, President Tinubu commended President Cuong's election by the Vietnamese parliament, celebrating his leadership credentials and his commitment to Vietnam’s role in the global community.
President Cuong, 67, brings over 40 years of military experience and has been a member of Vietnam’s powerful Politburo since 2021. In his post-election statement, Cuong emphasized his vision to position Vietnam as a "friend, a trusted partner, an active and responsible member of the international community."
In his congratulatory message signed today by Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed Nigeria's eagerness to strengthen diplomatic ties with Vietnam under Cuong’s leadership. Tinubu highlighted areas of mutual interest, including trade, agriculture, food security, education, and cultural and technological exchanges. This renewed commitment, he added, underscores the warm relations and shared values between Nigeria and Vietnam.
