DAILY COURIER — The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has applauded the newly opened Caring Habitat Hospital, describing it as an outstanding example of Diaspora contribution to Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
According to a statement today by Gabriel Odu of NIDCOM's Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, The hospital, which was established by Dr. Abdul Fatai Olaolu Odemuyiwa, a Nigerian in the Diaspora, is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to skilled nursing and patient rehabilitation.
During the official opening ceremony of the facility, Dabiri-Erewa praised the vision and dedication of Dr. Odemuyiwa, who invested years of experience gained abroad into creating the Caring Habitat Hospital. She emphasized that such initiatives were vital for national development, calling on other Nigerians in the Diaspora to follow suit by giving back to their country.
“This is an exceptional project worthy of commendation and encouragement,” she said. “It is only Nigerians who can develop Nigeria. We must take responsibility for solving our own challenges.”
The Caring Habitat Hospital is a 40-room facility spread across three floors, equipped with cutting-edge rehabilitation tools and fully wheelchair-accessible. Each room is designed with en-suite amenities, spacious enough to accommodate visiting family members. The hospital offers a range of healthcare services, including physical therapy for patients suffering from chronic diseases, neurological conditions, degenerative diseases, orthopedic issues, and other related services.
Dr. Odemuyiwa, Managing Director of Caring Habitat, expressed pride in the project and urged other Nigerians in the Diaspora to join hands in improving the country’s healthcare system. "I am proud to be one of the Nigerians who has returned home to contribute to the nation's healthcare delivery system," he stated.
The project also received glowing praise from various dignitaries, including the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Health, Mrs. Kemi Ogunyemi, and the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker. Each lauded the facility as a pioneering effort in Nigeria’s healthcare landscape.
Other prominent guests present at the event included Dr. Yemi Onabowale, Managing Director of Reddington Hospital, Lagos; Mr. Yemi Adeola, Chairman of Sterling Bank; and Dr. Kweku Tandor.
The launch of Caring Habitat Hospital stands as a testament to the transformative potential of Diaspora investments in Nigeria, marking a significant milestone in the nation's healthcare delivery.
