DAILY COURIER - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has accredited Daily Courier and 113 other media organizations to cover the highly anticipated Edo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2024. This was confirmed following the successful submission and verification of the personal details of 721 personnel from the accredited outlets.
Among the accredited media outlets are major newspapers, radio, television, and online platforms, including Daily Courier, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the electoral process. Reporters, cameramen, broadcast engineers, and other support staff will be deployed across the state to monitor and report on election day events as they unfold.
Daily Courier will deploy three journalists to monitor the election across the three senatorial districts in Edo State. This move ensures that the paper will provide a well-rounded and detailed account of the electoral activities, bringing reports directly from different parts of the state on election day.
INEC emphasized that all accredited media personnel will have full and lawful access to voting and collation centers. The Commission also reassured that accreditation tags will be issued ahead of the election to guarantee smooth coverage. Media organizations and observers are reminded to adhere to their professional codes of ethics, INEC’s regulations, and electoral laws during their coverage of the event.
Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, expressed confidence in the media’s role in promoting transparency and providing vital information to the public. He also urged the media to focus on fair and accurate reporting throughout the entire electoral process.
As the media gears up to cover the upcoming election, Daily Courier and other outlets are poised to play a crucial role in ensuring that voters remain informed and engaged during the electoral process.
