DAILY COURIER – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State following the devastating floods caused by the overflow of the Alau Dam, which has displaced thousands and destroyed homes, farmlands, businesses, and public infrastructure, including the palace of the Shehu of Borno.
In a press statement issued today by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party expressed deep sadness over the hardship faced by residents of Maiduguri and surrounding communities. The flooding, which has been described as one of the worst in recent history, has left many without shelter and livelihoods.
According to the statement, President Bola Tinubu has instructed Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima to visit Maiduguri for an on-the-spot assessment of the disaster. Following the visit, federal government emergency services have been directed to collaborate with state authorities to ensure the swift evacuation of affected residents and to provide necessary relief materials.
The APC urged all relevant agencies at both the federal and state levels to leave no stone unturned in addressing the humanitarian crisis triggered by the flooding. The party also prayed for comfort and full restoration for the victims of the disaster.
As recovery efforts continue, the APC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Borno State government in mitigating the impact of the flood and restoring normalcy in the affected areas.
The party called on residents to remain resilient, assuring them of the government's unwavering support during this challenging period.
