DAILY COURIER - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the electorate in Edo State to dismiss the false claims circulating about the disqualification of their governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, ahead of the September 21 election. The PDP Campaign Council made this clarification on Tuesday in a statement from Benin City, signed by Rev. Olu Martins, Deputy Director General of the Asue Ogie Campaign Management.
The statement refuted any claims of an Appeal Court ruling disqualifying Dr. Ighodalo, labeling such stories as "fake, imaginary, diabolical, and a satanic creation" by leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State. The PDP accused the APC of spreading these falsehoods to divert attention from their perceived lack of preparedness and rejection by the people of Edo State.
Rev. Olu Martins emphasized, “The rudderless APC, in a bid to divert attention from its total rejection by the people of Edo State, having seen through its unpreparedness for the election, had gone to town with a fake news that Ighodalo has been disqualified. It's not true. It's fake news.”
The PDP urged the people of Edo State and the nation to disregard the fake news, calling it "criminal forgery." They accused the APC of using lies and propaganda as their trademark, highlighting their alleged inability to offer meaningful governance to the people of Edo State.
“Ighodalo remains a high flying bonafide candidate of the PDP and he is in the race for the election in 45 days time. Ighodalo, who enjoys massive acceptance across all the three senatorial zones, is more than ready to lead Edo State as a Chief Servant to a new dawn of 'Prosperity for All,’” the statement concluded.
As the election approaches, the PDP reaffirms its confidence in Dr. Ighodalo's candidacy and urges voters to stay informed and not be swayed by misinformation.
