DAILY COURIER - The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a statement to address reports of existing members being asked to revalidate their membership during the ongoing membership drive. The NWC clarified that the current membership registration is exclusively for new members and does not affect the status of current members.
In the press statement by the publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba today, the NWC emphasized that the purpose of the membership drive is to provide an opportunity for eligible Nigerians eager to join the PDP to register as new members. The NWC assured that the membership status, rights, and privileges of existing members remain intact and are not impacted by the registration process.
"No existing member is expected or required to have his or her membership revalidated," the statement read. "Such individuals remain bona fide members of the Party and are not subject to any form of revalidation."
The NWC called on all party members and officers, especially those at the electoral ward level, to adhere to this clarification and ensure that the membership drive runs smoothly.
The PDP also acknowledged the growing interest in the party, noting the "continuing influx of millions of Nigerians" eager to join during the membership drive. The party encouraged all members to continue working together to strengthen the PDP for future challenges.
