DAILY COURIER - At the 36th annual session of the Crans Montana Forum, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State delivered a compelling speech emphasizing Africa's boundless potential and Nigeria's pivotal role in reshaping the continent's narrative on the global stage.
Governor Sanwo-Olu addressed the historical misrepresentation of Africa as a global liability, a misconception that has long overshadowed the continent's true essence and value. He underscored the importance of correcting this false depiction by highlighting Africa's immense resources and contributions to the world.
"Africa's value is truly boundless," Sanwo-Olu stated. "We boast the largest reserves of crucial resources such as cobalt, diamonds, and uranium. With 65% of the planet's arable land, we are key players in global food security. Moreover, Africa is home to approximately 40% of the world's mineral reserves, including significant percentages of gold, chromium, and platinum."
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Africa is no longer seeking mere inclusion but is positioning itself as an equal partner on the global stage. He highlighted the continent's readiness to actively engage and collaborate, asserting Africa as a valuable and essential player in shaping the future of the world.
"In this transformative era, Africa is asserting itself as a formidable force to be reckoned with," he declared. "Nigeria, at the forefront of this paradigm shift, is leading the way in demonstrating Africa's potential."
Governor Sanwo-Olu pointed to Lagos as a vibrant hub of innovation and progress in Nigeria, playing a crucial role in driving forward the narrative of Africa’s ascendancy. He called for unity and shared vision to redefine Africa's story and showcase the continent's true potential to the world.
