'Seun Ibukun-Oni, Abuja
DAILY COURIER - A non governmental organization, Aliston Care Foundation has offered to return 23 indigent pupils of LEA Primary School Chorin Bisa, AMAC back to school.
This was the climax of the Foundation's Abuja maiden school outreach at the school on 16th May 2024.
According to a statement signed by the CEO of Aliston Care Foundation, Mr. Agbojeyin Tony Davies, the 23 out of school indigent children that were identified from the community by the religious and community leaders will be enrolled back to different classes of the school by Aliston Care foundation in September 2024.
Representing the executive chairman AMAC at the event, PDP AMAC chairman, Chief Godibeg Egbe said: "We want to commend Aliston Care Foundation for this gesture and I know that this is a very well organized foundation and without funds a foundation cannot exist. Only him (sic) cannot do it. There are other well meaning individuals that can support them to do more. In AMAC and across the FCT you have sent a message by what you have done here. If you go to various communities you will see that this intervention is needed. I heard when the school authority were talking to him about other communities that require such intervention. So, I am begging spirited Nigerians and other bigger foundations to help him so that these ideas he has can be fulfilled.
"I myself can testify because I handed some materials to some persons which shows it's real. It happened in my own presence, it is not like someone said, political numbers. What we want to tell him is to keep it up, he should not be discouraged because this thing takes a lot of money and financial commitment to happen.
"I know that God will give him the wisdom and courage to do all that is needed. We in Nigeria and the school, like Oliver Twist we are asking for more help. I see the children, the community leaders and everyone around are very happy for this type of program and we are asking for more."
Appreciating the gesture by Aliston Care Foundation, Nonye Osuji of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation remarked: "I want to use this opportunity to appreciate Aliston Care Foundation for what they have done to touch the lives of these children today. All these children wouldn't have gotten all these Interventions without your efforts.
"Equally, I want ask other stakeholders who are here to emulate this because there is nothing you do to improve the lives of these children that is too small."
Other educational supplies distributed to indigent pupils of the school include:8 pairs of school uniforms; 10 pairs of school sandals; 48 pairs of socks; 20 dozens of exercise books; 30 school bags and other writing materials.
Other guests at the event are: Board member Aliston Care foundation, Elder Joshua Okungbowa; Education Secretary of LEA Secretariat, AMAC represented by Mr . Maringa Dangiwa HOD, PSS, LEA Secretariat AMAC; Aliston Care Foundation's director of program, Mrs Cordilia Okungbowa, among others.
