DAILY COURIER - The National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje has presented a certificate of return to the Governor of Ondo State, HE. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the Party's governorship candidate.
The governor at the occasion today at the party's national headquarters thanked the party hierarchy for presiding over what he termed a successful exercise.
He pledged to fly the party's flag to victory come November 16, 2024.
"I want to thank all our leaders for your commitment and the way you have presided over the affairs of our party not just Ondo state.
We started earlier with expression of interest and nomination forms, revalidation of voters and the primary elections which was free and fair. The process that brought about my emergence. I want to thank all other aspirants that were part of the successful exercise because their was a flagbearer. I want to therefore accept the nomination as the flagbearer of the gubernatorial election coming up in Ondo state in November 16, 2024."
Earlier the deputy national chairman who doubles as the chairman of Ondo state gubernatorial primary, Hon. Emma Enekwu said the party's national working committee after a painstaking deliberation had endorsed the appeal committee's report and ratified the primary election outcome.
DAILY COURIER reports that the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Jimoh Ibrahim, former Finance Commissioner, Wale Akinterinwa and three other aspirants who lost in the Ondo State governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have filed petitions before the Abubakar led appeals committee over the outcome of the election.
Other petitioners are House of Representatives member, Hon. Jimi Odimayo, Engr. Folakemi Omogoroye and Barrister Gbenga Edema.
The aspirants kicked against the process of the exercise, noting that the whole process was marred with irregularities and fell short of appreciable standards.
The presentation of certificate of return to the winner signaled an end to the intraparty arbitration, paving the way for campaign as soon as the electoral umpire, INEC blows the whistle.
