DAILY COURIER - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerian students studying abroad that his administration is committed to addressing the challenges they face. This promise was made during the fourth Diaspora quarterly webinar lecture series hosted by Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) with the theme "Well-being of Nigeria Students Abroad: (Struggles, Challenges and Solutions)".
Represented by his Senior Special Assistant on Student Engagement, Hon. Asefon Sunday Dayo, President Tinubu acknowledged the struggles of Nigerian students abroad, including non-payment of scholarships, difficulties with NYSC registration, professional body examinations, racial discrimination, and passport and consular issues.
The webinar featured stakeholders such as NIDCOM Chairman/CEO Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, and NYSC Director General Brig. Gen. Y.D Ahmed, who addressed various concerns raised by the students.
The government's commitment to supporting Nigerian students in the diaspora was reaffirmed, with a call to students to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and seek guidance and mentorship to overcome their challenges.
The event highlighted the need for urgent attention to the challenges faced by Nigerian students abroad, and the government's willingness to work towards finding solutions.
