DAILY COURIER - Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has signed seven bills into law, urging the state's citizens to embrace these new legislations for the progress of Kogi State.
According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, today revealed that the newly enacted laws are:
A law to repeal and re-enact the Kogi State Local Government Service Commission Law 2014 and related matters, 2024.
A law to repeal and re-enact the Kogi State Scholarship Board Edict, 1998 and related matters, 2024.
A law to establish the Kogi State Electricity Market and the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Commission to regulate electricity generation, transmission, distribution, and supply, and to promote access to electricity through increased private sector investments or public-private partnerships, using renewable and non-renewable sources, 2024.
A law to establish the Kogi State Anti-Corruption Agency and related matters, 2024.
The Kogi State Commodity Exchange, Export Promotion, and Market Development Agency Law, 2024.
The Kogi State Information Technology Development Agency Law, 2024.
A law to repeal and re-enact the Kogi State Mineral Resources Development Agency Law, 2015 and related matters, 2024.
Governor Ododo described these laws as "people's laws," emphasizing that their enactment aligns with his commitment to govern with transparency, accountability, and the fear of God.
“These laws are catalysts for the rapid social and economic development of Kogi State, as they address critical aspects of our citizens' lives,” Governor Ododo stated. “Combined, these laws can be referred to as the People’s Acts. Each law has a direct impact on our people, which is why we are here today.”
He continued, “Let it be known that under my administration, no one is above the law. This aligns with my promise to lead with the fear of God and ensure that our resources benefit the people of this state.”
Governor Ododo called on the citizens, particularly those in positions of authority, to embrace and familiarize themselves with the new laws.
